Great personalities don’t do different things. They do things differently. It is this deep rooted desire that prompted young Rajeev Rai to undertake a journey from Ballia, a small town in UP to Bangalore.
Born to Sri Rajnaraian Rai & Smt. Manaki Rai on 6/9/1969, Rajeev Rai, always showed a penchant for perfection. His inherent qualities like determination and diligence together with a strict upbringing sowed the seeds for the emergence of an entrepreneur and administrator of a high caliber. Great personalities do not have the word ‘failure’ in their dictionary. They only have hurdles and obstacles and the means to overcome them.
Rajeev Rai was determined to make a success of every venture when he arrived in Bangalore. A gold medalist in his academics, he joined the same college as a tutor and ensured highest results. A short span of two years saw his career raise from the post of tutor, HOD, Principal to Chief Administrative Officer. In the year 2000, he took over an Institution(NSVK) older than him and became the youngest chairman of any educational Institution in Karnataka. He also took over Brite, another sick unit and grouped all the institutions under a single banner ‘AVK Group of Institutions’ with the motto to ‘Educate the child in true sense”. His strength lies in taking over sick institutions and turning them into one of the best institutions. Not a single student is turned away for want of any support from him. His relation with the student continues even after they complete the studies in his institution for he believes that his responsibility lies till they are well settled in life. AVK is indeed a Gurukul in this modern era. AVK group of Institutions offer courses from LKG to PG. The new campus at Magadi Road offers Management courses and courses in Nursing. MBA, established in 2009-10 has advisory members headed by Padmabhushana Prof. N.S. Ramaswamy, founder Director of IIMB.
The Institution has a tie-up with Thames-International, UK for higher education with placement. Mr. Rajeev Rai was invited by the Government of Burkina Faso, Africa, to establish co-operation in the domain of culture, science, technology, research and professional training through the implementation of point research projects, faculty exchange programme. The Government of Jharkhand has singled out AVK – Group of Institutions to sponsor the nursing education of its tribal girls belonging to SC/ST/OBC classes which speaks volumes on the reputation and credibility of the institution.
Rajeev Rai believes that education in the right form not only bring out qualified individuals of high caliber to take advantage of immense opportunities the world offers but is also the only panacea to combat the evils which come in the way of nation building. His out of the box thinking has paved way for scouting economically, socially backward students from north east and providing them education so that they can stand on their own feet and contribute to the nation.
He offers free education and scholarships to economically and socially poor students, wards of widows orphans and children from slums under the ‘educate a child scheme’. He works for computer literacy in rural areas/villages and has established hundreds of centers in villages schools with a concept of ‘computer in education’ under MPLAD scheme in UP and Bihar
